Accreditation Visit

It's 9:30 p.m., and I'm ready to sleep...(combination of "old"age and long days). The accreditation team has arrived to evaluate our school. The administrative team had lunch with them last Sunday. Last week was tough because we had little time to meet lots of deadlines. This week is tough because they ask a lot of questions and demand a lot of answers supported by concrete evidence.

On Saturday, I was at school from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. (...never doing that again) trying to clean up the curriculum guides as well as organize my office. I FINALLY feel comfy in my office. The last elementary principal was a great person, but male and somewhat of a pack-rat. Also, the resource room in the back portion of the office looked like it had not been dusted for at least five or ten years.

Saturday Spring-Cleaning: I ended up doing a lot of de-cluttering and decorated the office with a butterfly motif and a typical Colombian weaved basket on the wall. Everyone knows that I've never been born with any "neat genes", but I'm discovering that nowadays I need things neater and more organized in order to stay sane. Less clutter, less stress. Neat is good.

Tomorrow is the accreditation team's last day with us and they will share their findings with the school staff during an afterschool meeting. I'm curious to hear about what strengths they see and what improvements are necessary. We've worked sooooo hard this year to get ready for this visit.

Unless I hear any strong objections that would force me to reconsider, I continue to move towards the direction of staying one more year at the school to serve during a more "normal" year (2006-2007). Would I receive your support and blessings with this decision?

Thanks for your prayers. The retreat during Holy Week was great and I finished my Philosophy of Ed. requirement. I've received a Temporary (2 years) Certification as an Elementary Principal and a Professional (5 years) Certification as an Elementary Teacher through ACSI (Assoc. of Christian Schools International).
